Verb Tense Changes and Consistency

When we tell stories about our lives, we often will keep the verbs in the same tense. For instance, if I am telling a story about what I did over Semana Santa, I will likely use the Simple Past. However, there are times when I will want to shift (or change) tenses. This is one of the more difficult things to learn how to do consistently well.
