Minimal Pairs

There are many words that sound very similar in English. If they only differ with one sound, they are called “minimal pairs.” An example of this is: sheep (a long “i” sound) and ship (a short “i” sound).

Below is a game/quiz that will help you listen for and learn to distinguish between common minimal pairs in English. This is excellent listening practice!
