Why is there a “b” in “doubt”?


Has spelling in English ever seemed like a mysterious or senseless thing? You aren’t alone. Millions of school children struggle every year with how to spell words in English since there are so many silent letters (among other things). This little video talks about where the silent “b” comes from in the word “doubt.” It’s a very interesting lesson in both English and history.
